Social media reacts as Caitlin Clark becomes Big Ten assists leader in win over Minnesota

Caitlin Clark is the Big Ten’s all-time assists leader! Social media reacted to another record day in Iowa’s 94-71 win vs. Minnesota.

It was another record-breaking day for Iowa senior superstar Caitlin Clark in the Hawkeyes’ 94-71 win over Minnesota.

Clark moved into the No. 5 place in the all-time women’s college basketball scoring charts with 35 points on 13-of-22 shooting, including eight made 3-pointers.

But, it was what the West Des Moines product did sharing the basketball that was the biggest story versus the Gophers. With her second-quarter assist to Kylie Feuerbach, Clark surpassed Sam Logic as the Hawkeyes’ all-time assists leader.

Then, Clark’s bullet pass inside for sophomore forward Hannah Stuelke netted her eighth assist on the day. That dime moved her into sole possession of the Big Ten’s all-time assists record, surpassing former Ohio State Buckeye Samantha Prahalis.

Clark finished with 10 assists and five rebounds, netting the 49th double-double of her career.

Meanwhile, as a team, Iowa put on a clinic against an improved Minnesota team. The Gophers fell to 11-2 (1-1 Big Ten) as the Hawkeyes improved to 13-1 (2-0 Big Ten) and won their 10th game in a row.

Iowa shot 58.3% from the floor, dished out 23 assists and outrebounded Minnesota, 43-32. The Gophers shot just 39.4% from the field.

Stuelke had another incredibly efficient performance, knocking down 9-of-10 field goal attempts and scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Graduate guard Kate Martin was the other Hawkeye in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
