Not just the basketball world but the sports world as a whole lost not only a legend but what always felt like a friend on Monday as the passing of Hall of Famer Bill Walton was announced.
Walton was 71-years old and had been battling cancer for some time.
His career at UCLA was extraordinary and despite lingering foot issues, he was still able to be an all-time great during his time in the NBA.
Notre Dame fans who frequent Fighting Irish Wire will surely recall Walton’s time at UCLA and his role in the Irish’s upset victory that ended UCLA’s winning streak in 1974.
