Chelsea and Manchester United met Saturday in a downpour at Old Trafford to resume one of the best rivalries in the Premier League, and the home team was incredibly fortunate not to concede a penalty midway through the first half.
On a Chelsea corner, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire wrapped his arms around Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, holding him down to prevent him from attempting a header at the goal. Maguire won the ball for Manchester United, and Azpilicueta protested the non-call to Martin Atkinson to no avail.
There wasn’t even a mention of a VAR check of the incident, which baffled fans given the glaringly obvious nature of the foul. The game remained scoreless in the first half.

That’s a penalty every day of the week and twice on Sundays. How was Uniteds one checked but not ours???? Inconsistency of VAR. Actually I’m not actually surprised we’re playing against Varchester United. pic.twitter.com/WbvTaicCxz

How is that not a penalty to Chelsea, its clear an obvious @premierleague. I know it's against united and its hard to give it but seriously.

If any Chelsea player tries that on a Man United player, VAR will give 2 penalties. One at the moment and one after the final whistle. #MUNCHE pic.twitter.com/1Or5nLNFQ1
