So many big-name QBs are learning a tough lesson right now – getting old stinks

Getting old stinks.

It stinks getting old.

That’s not breaking news, of course. It’s probably something you know all too well. One day you got the world by the you-know-whats and the next you suddenly find yourself making noises while getting out of your chair at work.

It doesn’t help that there’s no avoiding getting old – no matter how many surgeries you undergo, or Peloton rides you take, it’s just gonna happen.

Father Time, as they say, is undefeated. And they’re right, unfortunately.

This is something a number of big-time QBs are learning this offseason. On Monday, Philip Rivers, 38, became the latest old QB to officially say goodbye to a franchise that he was the face of for 17 years. Rivers and the Chargers never went to a Super Bowl but they had a lot of great moments over the years. Now, Rivers will try to figure out what’s next for him.

But Rivers is far from alone. You might have heard about Tom Brady, who will be 43 when next season begins. Brady has six Super Bowl rings but right now we have no idea where he’ll play in 2020. He’s old now and putting a lot of money into an old QB comes with a lot of risks, even when you are talking about the GOAT.

Drew Brees in New Orleans is another future Hall of Famer looking up at Father Time. The 41-year-old unrestricted free agent had another solid season in 2019 but now there are just too many questions of how much he has left and how much a franchise wants to commit to him. He could even just walk away from the game.

Speaking of walking away from the game, Eli Manning did just that a few weeks ago after turning 39 years old.

Then there’s Cam Newton who is only 30 but people are already wondering what he has left because of injuries. Chances are he still has a lot left but still, the concerns are out there.

What a strange offseason it has been. Not only for these QBs, but also for the fans of these QBs who have spent so many years rooting them on in big moments. During those moments its easy to forget that they are human and that these good times will eventually come to an end.

But here we are. Brady, Brees, and Rivers are quickly becoming old relics that are already being pushed aside by the new stars who are more than ready to carry the game for the next 15-20 years or so.

It’s starting to look like it’s getting harder for each of those guy to realize that thing about Father Time.

And who can blame them?

Getting old stinks!

Did we blame the wrong coach for the Super Bowl 54 collapse?

Every year our Steven Ruiz does a deep dive in to the film of the Super Bowl to find out what the real story of the game was. This year he did another fantastic job of breaking down the 49ers’ fourth-quarter collapse and explains why defensive Robert Saleh – not Kyle Shanahan – should be blamed.
