SMU Mustangs Season Prediction, What Will Happen
It wasn’t all that long ago that SMU was awful at college football.
1-11 in 2014, 2-10 in 2015, 17-20 from 2016 to 2018 – it was rough.
But Sonny Dykes and the former coaching staff built things up, the team was able to beat the mediocre teams on the slate with 20 of the 25 wins over the last three seasons coming against either FCS teams or teams that finished with losing records – but that’s okay.
This SMU team will get its base of wins against the mediocre teams, too, and the toughest conference games are at home.
Set The SMU Mustangs Regular Season Win Total At … 7.5
The offense should be fantastic. It might not be the best in the AAC again, but the skill parts are there around a veteran offensive front.
The defense won’t be special, but it’ll be good enough to pull off a home win over a Cincinnati, Houston, or Memphis – the Mustangs have to take down at least one of those.
At Maryland, at UCF, and the home date with TCU will be rough, and there will be four losses in the mix overall. It’s just a question of whether or not the new regime can get those big wins over the good teams.
