The Skip Barber Racing School has announced it will enter multiple cars in the inaugural season of McLaren Trophy America. The series, which features McLaren Trophy EVO cars, has proven popular in Europe and will now expand to the United States.

The McLaren Trophy America season will begin in March of 2025 from Sonoma Raceway and follow the SRO America calendar across the country with stops at Circuit of The Americas, Skip Barber’s home track of VIRginia International Raceway, Road America, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“This new program is important for us for two key reasons,” said Skip Barber Racing team manager Joe Monitto. “First, it provides our clients with another excellent option for where they wish to compete, as the McLaren Trophy EVO is an especially attractive platform. In addition to that, the Skip Barber Racing School has been working with McLaren to provide training to drivers seeking to compete in the series. This raises the driving standards, and with it, the quality of the competition in the series.”

Throughout the team’s history, Skip Barber Racing has offered arrive-and-drive programs at multiple levels of racing including Touring Car, GT4, and other one-make series. The addition of the McLaren Trophy EVO platform creates a more diverse development arc for the team’s drivers.

“We’re really pleased that Skip Barber will be on the 2025 McLaren Trophy America grid,” said Darioush Gheissari, manager of One-Make Racing for – McLaren Automotive Ltd. “To have such a legendary name in American motorsport join the McLaren family, especially as some of its alumni have gone on to race for McLaren, is a testament to our way of racing. We look forward to seeing how they get on when we hit the track for the first race of the year at Sonoma in March.”

“Anytime we can welcome a prestigious brand such as McLaren into the Skip Barber Racing School family is a tremendous testament to our range of abilities,” Skip Barber Racing School Chief Marketing Officer Dan DeMonte said. “With the expansion of our championship-winning race team comes increased visibility and opportunities for our consumer-facing schools, the Skip Barber Race Series, and our wide range of offerings in the corporate event space. I’m eagerly awaiting next March and seeing the team on track.”
