Sixers vs. Pelicans postponed with too many players in health protocols

The Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans will have their matchup postponed.

The Philadelphia 76ers were supposed to get set to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday at home as they were looking to put a halt to a 3-game skid, but they will not have that opportunity anymore as they do not have the requirement of eight players to play this game.

With the news of Andre Drummond and Shake Milton joining Georges Niang in the league’s health and safety protocols, the Sixers do not have enough players to play this game. Furkan Korkmaz has been out with a non-COVID illness while Joel Embiid, Danny Green, and Tyrese Maxey were questionable for the game with injuries. That would have left Philadelphia with just five healthy players.

The Sixers will take on the Boston Celtics on Monday on the road as there is optimism that they can resume play then. It will depend on if the three players who were questionable can play in the game while the team can maybe bring Paul Reed back from the Delaware Blue Coats. They are in Las Vegas for the G League Showcase.

It is a tough time for the NBA right now as they continue to try and navigate through the murky waters of playing in a pandemic.
