In this era of the NBA, a lot of teams have a different type of jersey. They have a few different options to wear on game day that pays homage to the city they represent or their franchise as a whole.
The Philadelphia 76ers have a new city jersey that they use on occasions and this season will be no different. While in the past they had throwback jerseys that gave some love to their 1983 and their 1967 championship teams as well as the Billy Cunningham era. They have a new city jersey that will now give some love to the Allen Iverson era.
Due to the fact that it is the 20-year anniversary of the last time the Sixers reached the Finals in 2001 led by the Hall of Fame guard, Philadelphia will bring back the black jerseys that honor the Iverson era. It is not exactly the “dazzle” jerseys, but that design is incorporated with the design the team has today with a design that honors the iconic “Boathouse Row” in Philadelphia. On top of that, they will now have an alternate court to go with it.

Simmons and Iverson had a hand in making the uniform and Simmons told Zach Lowe of ESPN wanted to bring back the black jerseys:
“I took it upon myself to bring back the black jersey,” Simmons told ESPN over email.
“It was really cool to be a part of that, and definitely something I’d do again,” Simmons emailed. “This was eye-opening, seeing how long the process really is.”
Iverson then added that the jerseys are looking good for the players to perform well enough:
“I love ’em,” Iverson said. “It’s almost bittersweet. You look at them and you imagine yourself playing in them — adding the headband, the wristband, the sleeve, trying to put your flavor on them.”
Whenever fans are allowed back in arenas as the world still gets a grip on COVID-19, they will be able to get a taste of the past with this new uniform. Instead of Iverson crossing people up before going to the rim, it will be Simmons and Joel Embiid dominating in the new threads. [lawrence-related id=38962,38956,38950]
