Sixers to take care of Tyrese Maxey once they use their cap space

The Philadelphia 76ers will take care of Tyrese Maxey once they use their cap space in free agency.

The Philadelphia 76ers have a few things to take care of once free agency begins on Sunday evening. They will have to first handle their meeting with Paul George as they look to lure him to Philadelphia, but they will also have to take care of their rising star.

Tyrese Maxey, who finished up a terrific fourth season in the league, is set to enter free agency as well. However, it isn’t like the Sixers are going to let him go anywhere. After he averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds while taking the big leap forward that the Sixers were hoping for, now’s the time to lock him up for the long term.

Per Marc Stein, the Sixers will first use their cap space before taking care of Maxey:

League sources say that the Sixers will swiftly sign Maxey to a five-year extension worth in excess of $200 million later in July after first making full use of their cap space.

Maxey is worth the money the Sixers plan to give him. He is going to continue to be one of the top players in this league as he grows in this league. His work ethic is maniacal and he has a thirst to improve on a daily basis. The Sixers are going to lean on him and Joel Embiid as they move forward.
