Sixers to host Oklahoma guard Austin Reaves for a pre-draft workout

The Philadelphia 76ers are bringing in Oklahoma guard Austin Reaves for a pre-draft workout.

The 2021 NBA draft is approaching rather quickly; July 29 is right around the corner, and teams are getting a close look at potential prospects.

The Philadelphia 76ers have two picks in the draft, Nos. 28 and 50, and they have some solid options at both selections. The needs for Philadelphia are always the same: shooting and shot creation.

A league source told Sixers Wire the team will bring in Oklahoma guard Austin Reaves for a workout. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists for the Sooners in the 2020-21 season on his way to being named to the All-Big 12 first team. For his college career, he shot 34.7% from deep, so he has an ability to shoot as well as putting the ball on the floor and creating his own look.

In two games in the NCAA Tournament, Reaves averaged 25.0 points and shot 51.5% from the floor. He scored 27 points on 11-for-17 shooting against Gonzaga in the Round of 32.

With the Sixers bringing in prospects for pre-draft workouts, they have a few ideas of who they can turn to with the selection in the second round. By bringing in Reaves, it’s clear president Daryl Morey knows what he would like to add in this draft: guys who fit around his star duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid moving forward.
