Sixers to assign Paul Reed to Blue Coats, then recall him after their game

The Philadelphia 76ers will assign Paul Reed to the Delaware Blue Coats and then recall him after their game.

The Philadelphia 76ers will finally return home on Saturday to host the Minnesota Timberwolves after a very long 6-game road trip that lasted 13 days. They went 2-4 on the trip as they were shorthanded for the entirety of it.

During the trip, rookie Charles Bassey earned more playing time as the backup big man over second-year man Paul Reed and the Sixers want to get Reed more court time in order to develop properly.

Therefore, they will send Reed to the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, and then recall him after the team’s game on Saturday. The Blue Coats will take on Raptors 905 at 1 p.m. EST and the Sixers play at 6 p.m. EST so this will be easy to do so.

Reed has played 14 games this season, including two starts, and is averaging 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds. He is still a raw prospect, but he has shown an improvement to begin his second season in the league in terms of understanding defensive schemes. A game in the G League should help him a bit before returning to Philadelphia.
