Sixers star Joel Embiid still in third place in latest All-Star voting return

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid remains in third place amongst Eastern Conference frontcourt players on the second return of fan voting for the NBA All-Star game.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid remains in third place amongst Eastern Conference frontcourt players on the second return of fan voting for the NBA All-Star game.

Embiid amassed averages of 31 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in three games since the first fan return. During that stretch, he connected on 54.9 percent of his twos, 20 percent of his threes, and 81 percent of his 14 free throws per game.

In the time between the first and second voting returns, Embiid gained 1,121,344 votes. That is nearly double his vote total in one week after he had a strong week on the floor.

For the season, Embiid is contributing 27.1 points per game, along with  10.5 rebounds and a career-high 4.3 assists. After a painfully slow start shooting the ball early in the season, Embiid is seeing success on 50.4 percent of his twos, 38.3 percent of his threes, and 80.9 on his league-leading 10.7 free throws per game. While the Sixers’ record, overall, is unimpressive, the reigning MVP runner-up has firmly inserted himself back into this season’s conversation for the accolade.
