Sixers star Joel Embiid reacts to joining James Harden in record books

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid continues to set records in the NBA. In Saturday’s 109-98 road win over the Miami Heat, Embiid dropped 32 points — 25 after halftime — and joined James Harden in the NBA record books.

Embiid has scored 30 or more points in 10 straight road games, the longest streak since Harden in the 2018-19 season. Tracy McGrady did so in the 2002-03 season with the Orlando Magic.

Embiid is impressed by the record, but the Sixers are winning games and that’s all that matters to him.

“Nothing, just being locked in,” said Embiid. “We have a goal. I have a goal. I want to win and we’re gonna do everything possible for us to win, and I’m gonna do everything possible to put us in that position to be able to win. Every single night, that’s my mentality. Just coming in and try to climb up the standings again.”

The Sixers (25-17) are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. With the win against the Heat, they are just 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls, who have the best record in the East.

“Whether everybody’s available or not, we still gotta go out and compete,” said Embiid. “That’s what we did (Friday), that’s what we did tonight (Saturday), so we gotta build on that and go back on another win streak.”

The Sixers will finish their two-game road trip on Monday when they take on the Washington Wizards.
