With the 2022-23 season right around the corner in the NBA, now is the time for player rankings. The Philadelphia 76ers figure to be one of the top teams in the league considering their talent. Therefore, they will have some representatives on these player rankings.
The most prominent example of this is Joel Embiid, who is one of the top players in the league regardless of position. Despite his size, he can do things that most guards do on the floor, such as knocking down a 3 and taking his defender off the dribble, resulting in him leading the league in scoring at 30.6 points per game in the 2021-22 season.
HoopsHype put together a list of the top 25 centers in the league and Embiid came in second on the list behind, of course, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
HoopsHype on Embiid:
In 2021-22, Embiid arguably posted his most masterful campaign, averaging a league-leading 30.6 points per game to go with 11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocks while hitting a respectable 37.1 percent of his triples. BPM (9.2) ranked Embiid as the NBA’s third-most impactful player, as did VORP (6.5), as did PER (31.2) and Win Shares (12.0).
He can score on face-ups, he’s a monster in the post (Embiid produced 1.05 PPP on post-ups, the second-best mark in the league among players with 150 such chances), he’s a huge threat out of the pick-and-roll, he can create for teammates – he legitimately does it all.

The big fella has to be at his best for the Sixers to get to the mountaintop in the Eastern Conference. The fact that Embiid and James Harden have had a summer to work out together and bond should do wonders for their growing partnership and the team’s success.
