Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid had himself a helluva start to the 2020-21 season. In his first month under new coach Doc Rivers, Embiid has been on a rampage averaging 28.3 points and 11.1 rebounds and he looks like he is in terrific shape out on the floor.
On top of that, he has the Sixers sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference standings at 15-6 and the team is 14-2 when he plays. That kind of performance night in and night out as well as the team’s record has earned him, and the team, some accolades.
Embiid was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December and January after his performance. Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic won the award for the Western Conference.

The Sixers won their last game without the big fella for the first time when he doesn’t play. He was out with a back injury, but he’ll look to return to the floor on Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets after he returned to practice on Tuesday.
