Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid put in another terrific season on the floor in the 2022-23 season. The big fella averaged a league-leading 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting an efficient 54.8% from the floor and getting to the foul line 11.7 times per game.
For that type of production, he is definitely worthy of being in the MVP conversation.
The NBA announced their finalists for the main awards around the league and Embiid was named a finalist alongside Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Those last two have combined to win the last four MVP awards in the NBA. Embiid finished as the runner-up to Jokic in 2021 and 2022.

Considering the numbers Embiid put up while facing constant waves of defenders in his face, this feels like the year he finally gets the award. If he does win it, he will be the first MVP winner for the Sixers since Allen Iverson in 2001.
