Sixers star Joel Embiid lands a spot on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list for 2023

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid lands a spot on Forbes’ “top 30 under 30” list for 2023.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid had himself one helluva 2023.

He took home his first MVP award after averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season. Then he married during the summer. He began the 2023-24 season at a terrific pace. He’s averaging 32 points, 11.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists. He has taken a nice step forward under the guidance of new coach Nick Nurse.

Embiid’s exploits earned him a spot on the coveted “top 30 under 30” list from Forbes. The big fella, 29, is on his way to being one of the best players in the storied history of the Sixers. Yet, there is much more room for accomplishment and improvement.

Forbes on Embiid:

Embiid was no sure thing as an NBA prospect: He started playing basketball at 16, and injuries wiped out most of his first three years with the 76ers. But the Cameroon native says his mindset has always been “nothing is going to be easy; I’ve always felt like, to earn something, I had to work harder than the typical American.”

The only thing missing from Embiid’s resume at this point is a championship. With Nurse guiding the Sixers as their coach, the hope is Philadelphia can finally break through and win its first NBA title since 1983.
