Sixers star Joel Embiid had the most clutch points in 2021-22 season

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid led the NBA in total clutch points in the 2021-22 season.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid had one helluva 2021-22 season. He led the league in scoring — the first big man to do so since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000 — and he became the first big man to average 30 points in a season since Moses Malone in 1982.

Embiid also averaged 11.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 49.9% from the floor and 37.1% from deep. He went to the free-throw line 11.8 times per game and shot 81.4% from the line. There really was not much Embiid couldn’t do in the 2021-22 season.

The big fella also led the league in total points in the clutch with 158. That edged Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan, who had 157, and Denver Nuggets star, and league MVP, Nikola Jokic, who had 145.

Embiid and the Sixers will look to build and chase a title in the 2022-23 season. The hope is Embiid, James Harden, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris combined with the new additions will push Philadelphia over the hump and get them to that coveted Larry O’Brien trophy in 2023.
