Sixers star Joel Embiid gives update on his knee after loss to Hawks

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid gives an update on his knee after the team’s season ends.

The Philadelphia 76ers are always running into bad luck a bit when it comes to their star player and the injury bug. The Sixers had a chance at winning a championship in the 2021 season, but then superstar Joel Embiid then suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee and things seemed to derail from there.

While Embiid still played with the injury and he put up dominant performances, it was clear that he was still not right. Embiid had a tough time in a few games of this series with the Atlanta Hawks and it even looked as if he was bothered a bit in the Game 7 loss on Sunday.

“It is what it is,” said Embiid afterward. “I guess, there’s good and bad. The loss and I can take care of my body. That’s something that I thought hard about playing on it, but ultimately I decided to do it. It was my choice I gotta live with the results. At the end of the day, when it comes to my future, I’ll be fine.”

While Embiid was still a terrific player in this series and he had his big games, it was obvious that he was not at his healthiest. There were still a lot of moments in this series where he still had his struggles and it showed. For example, he had eight turnovers on Sunday in the loss.

“I still believe that if I was 100%, we had a shot at winning it all,” he finished. “Obviously, a lot of things didn’t go well, but like I said, me personally, with the circumstances, I did what I could and I gave everything I had.”
