The Philadelphia 76ers franchise and the entire city of Philadelphia held its collective breath on Friday night when the franchise center took a hard fall in the third quarter in Washington D.C. Joel Embiid was having another big game and after a monstrous dunk, he fell to the floor and was writhing in pain.
Embiid was on the ground for a long time and it seemed like this was going to be a serious injury. A stretcher even came out for him, but he eventually limped off under his own power to the locker room.
On Saturday morning, the team got some encouraging news as his MRI reveals no structural damage. This means that it’s just a bone bruise and that he will miss just 2-to-3 weeks. This could have been a lot worse so this is the best case scenario.

Until the star big man can return, Philadelphia will have to lean on Dwight Howard and Tony Bradley to continue to play well. They have gotten off to good starts in the second-half of the season.
