Sixers star big man Joel Embiid out vs. Knicks due to a rest day

The Philadelphia 76ers will rest Joel Embiid on Monday against the New York Knicks.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to keep the 6-game winning streak going on Monday when they host the New York Knicks, but they will have to do so while missing their star big man in this one.

The Sixers, who are so shorthanded to begin with as players are still in the health and safety protocols as well as dealing with injuries, will have Joel Embiid rest on Monday against the Knicks since the team has a back-to-back. They will host the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday and they would rather have Embiid ready for that one than against the Knicks.

The Sixers do have some depth in this situation that they can lean on. Andre Drummond will be called upon to play a bigger role while a guy like Paul Reed could warrant more minutes as well. While the Sixers will be missing Embiid in many ways, the team can still lean on others to step up in his place.
