The Philadelphia 76ers made major changes in the 2020 offseason as they brought in shooters in order to help Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons operate on the offensive end. With the proper spacing, the Sixers have run their offense in a much smoother way than in the 2019-20 season.
One of those shooters was veteran Danny Green, who has been invaluable on the floor as a shooter and off the floor as a three-time champion. He can help the team get focused and pick up wins.
Green has received praise from coach Doc Rivers and others throughout the season, but when the team clinched the No. 1 seed on Friday with a win over the Orlando Magic, he received more from All-Star teammate Simmons. Green’s experience and savvy have been huge for Philadelphia’s success.
“It’s been huge,” he said. “He set the tone as he came in, Day 1, and also having Dwight (Howard) there, too. He’s been close to getting champions prior to going to the Lakers that year. So he really knows what it takes, everyone’s got to make sacrifices and everyone’s doing that right now. We got to put it all together and make this run.”
The Sixers do not know who their playoff opponent will be in the first round of the 2021 playoffs due to the play-in tournament, but the Sixers have championship experience on their side with Rivers, Green and Howard on the roster.
