Sixers star Ben Simmons officially not playing in Olympics for Australia

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons will not participate in the upcoming Olympics.

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has faced plenty of scrutiny since the Game 7 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The 24-year old All-Star guard only had five points on only four shots which put a wrap on a postseason where he shot only 34.2% from the foul line.

Since then, he has been involved in a lot of trade rumors and suggestions as the Sixers look to improve the roster. At this point in time, it is probably better if the Sixers can get a proven shot creator, but on the flip side, if they can just unlock that part of Simmons’ game, then who knows the things the team can accomplish?

His desire to work on his skills is why he will not participate in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. He will not play for his native Australia as he will stay in the U.S. and continue to work on his skills.

Coach Doc Rivers will continue to work with Simmons as he has expressed a belief that he will figure it out on the offensive end. At this point, Philadelphia will need him to continue to take big steps forward on the offensive end for the team to succeed.
