The Philadelphia 76ers entered their Sunday scrimmage matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder shorthanded as they were missing All-Star big man Joel Embiid as well as backup guard Raul Neto. They then lost Glenn Robinson III to a hip injury in the first half.
They still built a 24 point led on the strength of Ben Simmons, Al Horford, and the rest of the starters. It was when coach Brett Brown turned to his younger guys that the Sixers were not able to hold on to the lead.
Oklahoma City outscored Philadelphia 32-16 in the fourth quarter on their way to a 102-97 win after Andre Roberson made some clutch threes late. Ben Simmons led Philadelphia with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, Al Horford had 13 points and nine rebounds, Alec Burks had 13 and six rebounds, Shake Milton had 11 points, and Josh Richardson had 10 points and four steals.
Philly can’t hang on to a 24 point lead and they fall to the Thunder 102-97 in scrimmage action.
