Sixers select Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey at 21 in the 2020 NBA draft

The Philadelphia 76ers select Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey at 21 overall.

The pick is officially in for the Philadelphia 76ers. After weeks and weeks of preparation and draft interviews, speculation that they would trade the pick, the Sixers have now made their selection at 21 on Wednesday.

The team will select Kentucky versatile wing Tyrese Maxey who offers a lot for the position on the floor. He is not much of a shooter, but he can really get after it on the defensive end which is something that coach Doc Rivers will love as he is trying to build a great defensive team. He can put the ball on the floor, he can get to the foul line, and he is a guy who can make a big impact on this team.

It is surprising that Maxey fell to the team at 21 so Philadelphia could not pass him up. Playing with an athlete like Ben Simmons will do wonders for his game as well where he can use that athleticism in transition. His addition could make the Sixers a much faster team who can use their speed and continue to push forward. [lawrence-related id=39230,39222,39204]
