Sixers rookie Tyrese Maxey out vs. Grizzlies due to health protocols

The Philadelphia 76ers will be missing Tyrese Maxey against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Philadelphia 76ers were already shorthanded heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies as they were missing Joel Embiid as he continues his recovery from a left knee bruise. Now, they will also be missing their spunky rookie guard.

Tyrese Maxey will miss the game due to the league’s health and safety protocols which could cause some concern for coach Doc Rivers when it comes to guard depth against Grizzlies star Ja Morant. It is always nice to have a handful of guards who can go up against a guy like Morant.

Maxey did not play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday due to a coach’s decision.

In terms of who is starting in place of Embiid, the team will turn to Mike Scott in his place. Rivers does like veteran Dwight Howard coming off the bench with Shake Milton as he likes the consistency.

Tipoff from Wells Fargo Center is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
