The Philadelphia 76ers will open up training camp on Tuesday and they already know that they will be without one main piece in the form of Ben Simmons. The 25-year old is holding out in order to have his trade request fulfilled before the beginning of the season.
The Sixers almost did not have another player in training camp in the form of rookie Charles Bassey. While he is not expected to have the same impact as missing Simmons, getting a deal done with Bassey was important to get him in here and get ready with the team.
Bassey and the Sixers have agreed on a 3-year deal rookie deal. There is a full guarantee for Year 1 of the deal and there is a partial guarantee for Year 2.
Philadelphia 76ers No. 53 pick Charles Bassey has agreed to a three-year rookie deal, his agents Adie von Gontard and Daveed Cohen told @TheAthletic @Stadium. Bassey’s deal includes full guarantee in Year 1 and partial guarantee in Year 2.

Bassey, the No. 53 pick in the 2021 draft, will look to add to his overall game as well as begin to learn from Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond. He has a nice opportunity to learn with this team.
