Sixers remain ambitious, still want top talent in return for Ben Simmons

The Philadelphia 76ers are remaining ambitious as they still want top value in return for Ben Simmons.

The Philadelphia 76ers appear to be gaining momentum on a possible Ben Simmons trade as the Dec. 15 date continues to approach. More of the league will be available for trades at that time and the Sixers will be able to complete a 2-team or even a 3-team trade.

There is a lot that they can get done, but the fact remains that the Sixers will remain ambitious. President Daryl Morey has made it clear that he wants one of the top players in the league in a Simmons deal and it looks like that isn’t changing even with the Portland Trail Blazers telling the Sixers that Damian Lillard isn’t available by any means.

That has not deterred Morey by any means as veteran reporter Marc Stein–formerly with ESPN–reports that the Sixers are still looking for a Lillard/Shai Gilgeous-Alexander type of player:

The 76ers have essentially completed a third of their season at 14-12 but league sources say that president of basketball operations Daryl Morey continues to hold firm on his ambitions in a Simmons deal, seeking a return package for Simmons headlined by a player from the Damian Lillard/Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tier.

The Sixers may be reaching in some’s eyes, but the Sixers still value him highly. The team will continue to remain patient on any deal until something else pops up. Still, with the Dec. 15 date approaching, it does appear that Simmons will be on the move soon and it will be something interesting to keep an eye on.
