The Philadelphia 76ers have a great record overall at 20-8, but they are especially great ar home as they boast a 14-0 home record. They are currently the only unbeaten team at home in the league and it is something that the team takes pride in.
The Philadelphia fan base is one of the more passionate in the league and they are the ones that really give the team a boost when it’s needed.
“I can’t go past our fans and I mean that with all my heart,” said coach Brett Brown. “There is a give-back mentality that we all feel when we come into Philadelphia. You’re just in front of some very passionate fans. They’re vocal and I’m proud of them and we all appreciate them. We feel like we have an elite home crowd and it’s part of the incentive to move high up the food chain as you can for the playoffs. You want to play here as much as you can.”
Josh Richardson, who faced the Sixers in the 2018 playoffs as a member of the Miami Heat, has seen both sides of the Philadelphia crowd.
“I’ve definitely been on the bad side of that,” he said. “I think it might be the fans. The crowd, they’re so good into the game. These guys just want to perform for them honestly.”
The Sixers give up 109.2 points per game on the road compared to giving up just 98.2 points at home. There is a different team that steps out onto the floor when they’re at home compared to when they hit the road.
“Just look at our defense,” Brown added. “I think our defense goes to another place in Philadelphia and it especially goes to another place in the final four minutes. It’s a great city to play in, it’s a great home court.”
The Sixers will look to make it a perfect 15-0 at home on Wednesday when they welcome in the Heat as they look to bounce back from the loss on Sunday. [lawrence-related id=21543,21534,21514]
