To pass the time until the 2021-22 NBA season begins, Sixers Wire is looking back at some of the best moments in the Philadelphia 76ers’ playoff history. Many legends have passed through this city and organization, and we are highlighting some of their bigger moments.
This edition goes back to the 2009 NBA playoffs when the sixth-seeded Sixers took on the Orlando Magic in the first round. This was another tough matchup for the Sixers, but they had some solid players who were ready to step up when the time called.
Philadelphia found itself down 18 points on the road in Game 1 only to storm back behind Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller and Lou Williams. With the game tied at 98, the Sixers turned to their leader, Iguodala, to get the job done.
The veteran forward sized up Hedo Turkoglu and drilled a step-back jumper with 2.2 seconds left to give Philadelphia a 100-98 upset win on the road in Orlando. Iguodala finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in the winning effort.
The Sixers built a 2-1 lead in the series, but they fell to the Magic in six games. Iguodala averaged 21.5 points, 6.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds in the series. Orlando reached the NBA Finals before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.
