The Philadelphia 76ers are in the middle of a public relations nightmare. On Monday night, the team announced the decision to reduce certain employee’s salaries by up to 20% in response to the financial hardships the team is about to endure caused by coronavirus. This caused a lot of outrage by people everywhere at managing partner Josh Harris and the rest of the Sixers managing group.
That decision then caused superstar Joel Embiid to step up and donate $500,000 to not only coronavirus relief efforts, but to help out those employees whose salary would be reduced.
There is one partner who is outraged at the team’s decision to do this and that is co-partner Michael Rubin. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports:
76ers part-owner Michael Rubin is upset and outraged over the team deciding to reduse certain employee’s payment by up to 20% temporarily. Rubin was not believed to be a part of the decision making process this week among the ownership level and you’re already starting to see the financial implications of the coronavirus outbreak start to seep into the NBA level.

Rubin has been a big proponent of helping people out and he played a key role in helping Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill in fighting the social justice system. This is an opportunity now for Rubin to step up and donate money now and help out the employees at the Wells Fargo Center who are missing out on work at this time.
