Sixers not sure what happened when Bucks ended 3rd quarter on 26-6 run

The Philadelphia 76ers were not sure what happened when the Milwaukee Bucks went on their big run.

Sometimes, things just happen so fast that one just sits there in bewilderment. For the Philadelphia 76ers, they were hit in the mouth pretty quickly in the third quarter in Saturday’s 132-94 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Sixers pulled to within 55-54 on a Seth Curry triple and then Curry made another 3 to pull to within 60-57 to keep the shorthanded Sixers in it, but Milwaukee then used a big 26-6 run to the quarter and lead it 86-63 after three quarters. That was the big run that the Bucks used to get the job done.

“They hit some 3’s, guys had some breakdowns, defensively,” said Curry after the loss. “I guess I got to watch the film and figure it out. I don’t remember what happened.”

It all just happened so quickly. Even after pulling to within 60-57 at the 7:19 mark, the Bucks answered with a 15-0 run to lead it 75-57 at the 4:59 mark of the third. Philadelphia just could not answer from there.

“Maybe we had a couple of defensive breakdowns, they hit a couple of 3’s, but off the top of your head, you don’t know exactly what happened,” said Tyrese Maxey who had 15 points off the bench to tie for the team lead. “We got to go back and watch the film and try to learn from it.”

The Bucks were the healthy team and they were at home so it should not have come as a huge surprise. The Sixers were down their two best players and this was an example of them just not being able to keep up.

“I don’t think it was a loss of composure, they just were better, honestly,” said coach Doc Rivers. “We made our own mistakes. We missed three or four shots in a row and they made shots.”

The Sixers will now have a day off before returning home on Monday to host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
