What a whirlwind it has been for the Philadelphia 76ers recently. On Monday night, the team announced that they would be reducing their employee’s salaries by 20% temporarily in response to the financial implications caused by the coronavirus. Which was understandably was pushed back by a lot of people on social media.
That then caused Joel Embiid to step up and donate $500,000 in order to help coronavirus relief efforts and help those who are having their salary reduced. It was then followed by co-partner Michael Rubin expressing his outrage at the decision and that he was not included in this choice.
All of that push back from just about everywhere caused managing partner Josh Harris to change his mind and decide not to go through with the salary reduction.

This was the smart decision by the franchise. There was no reason to even do that, to begin with. This is an uncertain time for everybody and now is not the time to go about reducing anybody’s salaries at all. [lawrence-related id=28126,28118,28070]
