Sixers’ Mac McClung performs well in Rising Stars challenge in loss

Philadelphia 76ers two-way player Mac McClung performs well in the Rising Stars challenge in a loss by Team Jason.

The Philadelphia 76ers will have their main guy, Joel Embiid, at All-Star weekend, although there’s no guarantee he plays in the game itself. However, they have another representative in Utah.

Mac McClung, who is with the Sixers on a two-way deal, was a part of Team Jason led by NBA champion Jason Terry in the Rising Stars challenge on Friday night. The event kicked off the weekend. McClung has been with the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, for almost all of the season.

On Friday, McClung had 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting. He knocked down two 3s and contributed two rebounds and two assists in a 40-32 loss to Team Joakim. McClung showed off athleticism that should excite some about his participation in the dunk contest on Saturday.

McClung is looking to make a name for himself at the slam dunk contest and eventually earn some time with the Sixers after the All-Star break.
