Sixers’ Joel Embiid ranks his 50-point performances after win over Celtics

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid ranks his 50-point performances after the win over the Boston Celtics.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been posting pretty incredible performances all year, and he has been dominant on the floor. It’s why he’s best positioned to finally win the MVP award.

After scoring 52 points on a ridiculous shooting display of 20-for-25 from the floor in a 103-101 win over the Boston Celtics, he has scored at least 50 points in a game for the third time on the season. He joins Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only three centers to have three 50-plus point games in a season in NBA history.

After the win over the Celtics, Embiid was asked to rank his 50-point performances.

“The best one is probably the Utah game,” said Embiid. “There’s no question about it. I was doing everything on the floor offensively and defensively, but given the team that we played, Boston, and getting the win, I don’t know. It’s probably up there.”

The Sixers are going as far as Embiid takes them. He will not average 50 points in the playoffs. If he can be a 30-point scorer, Philadelphia is going to be in a pretty good spot as they chase their championship hopes.

“Any scoring game, it feels better when you get the win with it,” Embiid added. “If that would have happened tonight (Tuesday) and we would have lost, it wouldn’t have mattered so I’m just happy to get the win.”

The Sixers have three games left beginning with a matchup with the Miami Heat on Thursday at home.
