Sixers’ Joel Embiid gets MVP endorsement from two-time winner Steph Curry

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid gets MVP endorsement from two-time winner Steph Curry.

The Philadelphia 76ers are well on their way to the postseason mainly due to the play of All-Star Joel Embiid. The prolific center has been dominant throughout the season, further fueling the conversation of him finally earning MVP honors.

Two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jockic is also a strong contender for his historic season, but another back-to-back award winner is favoring Embiid. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry won the award in 2015 and unanimously in 2016. He shared his thoughts on this year’s MVP race and Embiid’s leadership with the 76ers.

“I would say, Joel,” Curry said during his interview with Bleacher Report. “Any person you pick, their body of work could be compared to Jokić or Giannis. But Joel took a leap that I think a lot of people didn’t expect because he was dominant already. That leap turned heads and put Philly in a great position. If I had to pick, it would be him.”

Embiid is on pace to win his second consecutive scoring title while averaging 33 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. The Sixers are third in the Eastern Conference, carrying plenty of momentum into the postseason.
