Sixers have fully guaranteed Paul Reed’s contract for 2022-23 season

The Philadelphia 76ers have fully guaranteed the contract of Paul Reed for the 2022-23 season.

The Philadelphia 76ers have made it clear they like Paul Reed and what he brings to the team. They released Charles Bassey and the only big men behind Joel Embiid are Reed and Montrezl Harrell.

However, Reed’s contract still needed to be guaranteed for the 2022-23 season. Instead of waiting until the January deadline, the Sixers decided to get that done before opening night.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers fully guaranteed Reed’s contract for the season on Friday. The big man figures to be in the rotation to back up Embiid; he and Harrell will likely split duties in what begins the season as a fluid situation.

Reed averaged 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in the 2021-22 season, and he was the primary backup to Embiid in the playoffs. He looks to make an even bigger impact in the upcoming season.
