Sixers happy to have a couple of days off after loss to Nets on Sunday

The Philadelphia 76ers needed some rest following a loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

The Philadelphia 76ers have high expectations for the 2019-20 season as they believe they have a shot at winning an NBA championship with the talent that they have assembled on the roster. However, a blowout loss to the undermanned Brooklyn Nets on Sunday is not what everybody has in mind when it comes to this team.

Over the course of an 82 game season where it’s fast-paced, a team is bound to have a tough night. The team does possess wins over the Boston Celtics, the Toronto Raptors, and the Denver Nuggets so they know how good they really can be in the grand scheme of things.

“I think we have incredible potential,” said guard Josh Richardson. “When we’re locked in and our shots are falling and we’re doing the things that we need to be doing correctly then, I think we can beat anybody. In 82 games, you’re bound to lay a few eggs here and there.”

With two days off before welcoming in Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat for a second time this season on Wednesday, they feel recharged and ready to go.

“I’m not going to lie, usually it’s good to get back at it because you have a lot of games, but for me personally, it felt good to sit down and be still for a minute,” said Richardson. “After practice, I could tell guys were ready to go.”

It wasn’t just Richardson who felt that way, it was Tobias Harris as well.

“We needed a couple of days,” he said. “I think that was our fifth in seven days, something like that so, that kind of was another thing that affected that game. Just legs and whatnot so yesterday to have a day off and today to get in here and get some work in and a practice in is always good. I think we definitely needed that day off.”

The Sixers and the Heat tipoff at 7:00 p.m. EST from the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday. [lawrence-related id=21514,21509,21501]
