If the Philadelphia 76ers want to contend for a championship in the 2021-22 season like they intend on doing, they will need their younger players to step up and contribute when the time calls for it.
For example, second-year guard Tyrese Maxey might have to take on a larger role in the upcoming season. He might have to be the full-time backup point guard to Ben Simmons and he will be asked to score more efficiently and shoot with range as well as continue to lead the offense from the second unit.
In two summer league games, Maxey showed a willingness to take more 3-pointers off the dribble and he was confident in his all-around game. After leaving the summer league to host a youth basketball camp, he is back in the gym continuing to work on that 3-point shot.
Per a video from Chris Johnson’s Instagram story, the shifty guard from Kentucky went to work in the gym.

Maxey is going to be a big part of the Sixers whether he is a part of a big trade–centered around Simmons–or he is going to play a big role in the team’s success on the floor. A consistent 3-point shot will play a role in either scenario.
