The Philadelphia 76ers made a trade in the 2020 offseason to bring in more shooting, allowing Joel Embiid to operate on the offensive end in space. So far, that move has paid off.
The Sixers sent Josh Richardson to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Seth Curry, and the acquisition has been huge for Philadelphia. Curry shot 45% from deep in his first season in Philadelphia and followed that by shooting 50.6% from deep in the playoffs.
In his second season in the City of Brotherly Love, Curry isn’t shooting quite as well. He is at 40.5% from deep, but he shot the 3-ball at 53% through the first nine games of the season. He is in a bit of a slump, but there is little doubt he will figure it all out.
In a ranking of the top shooters in the league by Bleacher Report, Curry comes in ranked as the fifth-best shooter in the NBA:
Seth Curry deserves this nod and is rightfully getting more attention than he has in years past, thanks in part to more offensive responsibility from Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers.
But this is hardly a new thing from Curry. He’s getting more shots now, but he’s been lighting up nets in the NBA for long enough to be considered one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Curry has a career 3-point percentage of 44.1%, so this is not new for the sharpshooter out of Duke. He is a vital part of what the Sixers do, and they will need him to continue this type of shooting as they move forward.
