The NBA is working through the murky waters that the global COVID pandemic as they look to complete the season safely. As they have not been able to play the season in the successful bubble that they had to finish the 2019-20 season, things have been a bit more complicated.
The Philadelphia 76ers have had their issues with the virus so far as sharpshooter Seth Curry tested positive for COVID on Jan. 7 and he missed seven games before returning on Jan. 22.
In the six games since he’s returned, he’s shooting 31.8% from deep and he’s averaging 9.8 points. He was shooting 59.5% from deep before his time off. The veteran out of Duke has had to make an adjustment in getting himself back to who he was before he tested positive and he admits it hasn’t been easy.
“It’s been tough,” he said at practice on Tuesday. “Little nagging injuries here and there, I’ve been banged up a little bit. Some of the big remnants is also just trying to get my energy all the way back. Some days I feel good, some days I’m just sluggish and it’s like I got to take a nap all day so it’s weird, but I’m grateful to be able to get up and get on the court every day and play.”
That is understandable considering how serious the virus is and how it can affect one’s energy. At this point, Curry is trying to get himself back to where he was before and the team as a whole is continuing to work everything back into shape.
“I think as a team, we’re going,” he explained. “Individually and getting our rhythm, but also as individual players, every day is a new process to perfect your game and get better, perfect your body, and just know that this season is a long haul. Each and every day, it’s about just getting better every day to hopefully be at your best come the end of the season.”
