CAMDEN, N.J.–Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz will miss a second straight game on Friday with a left knee effusion injury he suffered on Nov. 12 against the Atlanta Hawks. He scored seven points off the bench in that contest before leaving with the injury.
As the Sixers prepare for the Milwaukee Bucks, Korkmaz is in the middle of recovering from the injury and he gave a quick update on where he’s at as he looks to get back on the court sooner rather than later.
“It’s good,” he said. “It’s getting better. It’s really like day-to-day stuff a little bit still. I still haven’t done contact stuff on the court, but I’ve been trying to push it and then I’m trying to be back as soon as possible.”
Korkmaz was just working his way back into the rotation after a tough start to the beginning of the season so it was a bit disappointing for him to have this set back on the floor.

“It’s definitely disappointing a little bit but it was just bad luck. I just gotta be like ‘Hey, it could be worse’,” Korkmaz added. “This type of injury, it’s gonna happen during the season. It doesn’t matter if you play, if you don’t play, it’s gonna happen, but at the end of the day, it could be worse. That’s my mindset.”
As he and the Sixers continue with this season, the veteran out of Turkey is looking to stay positive and continue to grow through this injury.
“I think I got away from that situation, but right now I’m staying ready, staying positive,” Korkmaz finished. “Try to do all my work and then get back to the court.”
