Sixers guard Ben Simmons named an All-Star reserve for second time

Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons has been named an All-Star reserve.

The Philadelphia 76ers already have one All-Star in Joel Embiid who was voted in as a starter on January 23, but he will now be having a teammate join him in Chicago in February.

It was announced that Ben Simmons was named an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve on Thursday for the second consecutive season. Simmons is averaging 16.3 points, 8.4 assists, and 7.3 rebounds on the season for Philadelphia.

Along with the impressive stat line, Simmons is having an incredible season defensively as he has taken on the opposing team’s best scorer on a nightly basis and rendered that player useless. He deserves this position.

He is joined by Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, Kyle Lowry, Khris Middleton, Jayson Tatum, and Bam Adebayo in the East.

The full All-Star teams will be drafted by team captains Giannis Antetokounmpo in the East and LeBron James in the West who were the two leading vote-getters. The All-Star draft will be on February 6 while the game itself will be on February 16. [lawrence-related id=24581,24574,24555]
