The Chicago Bulls fired Jim Boylen on August 14 and they have begun putting together coaching candidates for the position. One of those is a Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach who has been on their radar for a while.
Ime Udoka had been an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs for seven seasons before heading to Philadelphia for this season and he is in line for a head job soon enough. The Bulls are a young team in need of a lot of development and he is near the top of their list of candidates.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers have granted Udoka permission to speak with Chicago for the job:
Among the assistant coaches granted permission to talk to Chicago from eliminated teams, sources said: Dallas Mavericks assistants Jamahl Mosley and Stephen Silas, Philadelphia’s Ime Udoka and one candidate — Minnesota associate head coach David Vanterpool — whose team didn’t qualify for the restart, sources said.
Udoka is a guy who would do well for the younger Bulls players such as Coby White, Wendell Carter Jr., Daniel Gafford, and others. Along with the Chicago job, he is also amongst the candidates for the Sixers current vacancy as well. [lawrence-related id=37326,37321,37318]
