Sixers’ Furkan Korkmaz comes up clutch late in Turkey EuroBasket win

Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz came up clutch as Turkey knocked off Montenegro in EuroBasket play.

With training camp right around the corner for the Philadelphia 76ers, players are gearing up for what they hope will be a successful 2022-23 season leading into a deep playoff run.

Reserve guard Furkan Korkmaz is competing in EuroBasket 2022 for his native country, Turkey. On Thursday, Korkmaz had some big plays as Turkey knocked off Montenegro, 72-68, in its opener.

Korkmaz had only nine points, but five came in the final minute, including a deep shot at the buzzer to really put the exclamation point on the win. Korkmaz and fellow NBA guard, Cedi Osman, came up clutch for Turkey late in the win.

The Sixers hope Korkmaz can carry this over to the NBA game. The veteran shot 28.9% from deep in the 2021-22 season, taking a big step back in production. To succeed this season, Philadelphia will need everybody to produce on the floor.
