Before Doc Rivers became coach of the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020 offseason, he was out in Southern California coaching the Los Angeles Clippers. He spent seven seasons with the Clippers compiling a 356-208 record in those seasons.
In Friday’s Sixers win over the Clippers on the road, the organization gave him a tribute video celebrating his success with the franchise. This was Rivers’ second game back in LA with his new team, but it was the first one with fans.
After the win, Rivers acknowledged that he didn’t even see the video, but he did wave to the crowd.
“I didn’t see it,” Rivers laughed. “I waved at the very end. I don’t know how you can have a video tribute of a coach. It’s not like I’m dunking the ball. You show me getting a tech or thrown out of a game? There’s not a lot of highlights.”

With that being said, Rivers did a lot for the Clippers. They may not have won as big as they would have liked, but he helped change the culture there for the better. Before he got there, the Clippers were always the redheaded step child of Los Angeles, and they still are in a way, but he turneed that franchise into a place where big names want to go, i.e. Kawhi Leonard.
