The Philadelphia 76ers will return home from a long 13-day and 6-game road trip on Saturday when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. As they get set for the stretch run of the NBA season before the playoffs begin on May 22, they will need all hands on deck to ensure they can get one of the top seeds in the East.
That includes new addition George Hill who the team acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder back on March 25 at the trade deadline. Hill has not played since Jan. 24 due to a thumb procedure he underwent to repair an issue to make sure that that said issue will never pop up again.
Hill was able to be with the team at shootaround on Saturday morning and he was able to be with the team for the first time since the trade, but he did not go through any workouts just yet.
“No, not yet,” said coach Doc Rivers. “No contact, he shot the ball, he’s shooting the ball, great, but there’s no timetable or anything like that yet.”
(function (d, s, n) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
js = d.createElement(s);
js.className = n;
js.src = “//player.ex.co/player/d8b9c085-4226-44f1-8495-36ad4e2aa62d”;
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘exco-player’));
Hill will be able to be with the team on the floor soon. The important part is, he is able to be with the team now and he can now begin to learn Rivers’ playbook. The Sixers will need him to be fully healthy for the stretch run and the playoffs so the smart thing to do will be to take their time with him for the final run.
