Sixers big man Paul Reed summarizes his summer league with 1 game left

Philadelphia 76ers big man Paul Reed summarizes his summer league play thus far.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a solid summer league, getting the most out of second-year players Tyrese Maxey, Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed. While Philadelphia already knew what it had with Maxey, Joe and Reed have shown potential.

Reed, especially, has been playing with a high motor throughout summer league and has been terrific on the floor. He has made smart decisions on the defensive end, taken strides on the offensive end and attacked the glass with reckless abandon.

“I’d give myself a ‘B’ a solid ‘B’,” said Reed. “I wasn’t trying to be selfish. I wasn’t selfish. It was a couple of games I got frustrated. As a professional player, I can’t let that happen, a couple of double-doubles. That’s what I’m supposed to do, so I give myself a ‘B’.”

Reed is entering his second season, so there is still a lot to learn and develop in his game. The good thing is he has a good head on his shoulders, and he understands he needs to continue to work hard.

The energetic big man had his goals for the summer league: working on the defensive end, being able to call out defensive coverages, making sure that his teammates are in the right spot and working on his shot.

“I was able to work on that stuff,” said Reed. “Work on calling our the right calls and stuff. I think I improved on that, but my other goals, I came up short, we came up short.”

Philadelphia will have a final summer league game on Tuesday: the Utah Jazz at 3:30 p.m. EDT. That will give Reed another game to improve on his game a bit more.
