Sixers big man Joel Embiid voted in as All-Star starter for East

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been voted as an Eastern Conference All-Star starter.

The final All-Star votes have been counted and the Philadelphia 76ers will have at least one representative in the All-Star game in Chicago. That would be big man Joel Embiid who was voted in as a starter on Thursday for the third consecutive season. He is the first Sixer to be an All-Star for three consecutive seasons since Allen Iverson.

Embiid, who last played on January 6 after tearing a radial collateral ligament in his left hand, is averaging 23.4 points and 12.3 rebounds on the season all while facing constant double teams every game. He has cemented himself as one of the better players in the league and it’s good that the fans have recognized his talent and just how good of a player he is.

He is joined in the starting lineup by Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors, Kemba Walker of the Boston Celtics, and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks who will be making his first All-Star appearance.

Of course, the official roster will be announced after the All-Star draft on February 6 where Antetokounmpo is the captain for the East. The game is on February 16 from the United Center in Chicago.

The All-Star reserves will be announced on January 30. [lawrence-related id=24110,24104,24097]
