Sixers big man Joel Embiid out vs. Trail Blazers due to scheduled rest day

The Philadelphia 76ers will have Joel Embiid sit against the Portland Trail Blazers due to rest.

As the Philadelphia 76ers continue to get themselves on track with all of the changes surrounding the team, they will be down their superstar big man on Monday when they host the Portland Trail Blazers.

With the Sixers in the midst of playing six games in nine days including two sets of back-to-backs, they will rest Joel Embiid on Monday against the Blazers. Considering the big fella is dealing with right knee soreness that has bothered him since the season opener down in New Orleans, this seems like the smart move in order to preserve his health for the future.

The Sixers signed former 2-time All-Star Andre Drummond in the offseason for this specific reason. Obviously, Embiid was not going to play in every game so they needed somebody to come in and provide the team with some good production when he can’t go. It will be up to Drummond to keep it going now.

The Sixers and the Blazers will match up at 7 p.m. EDT on Monday in Philadelphia.
